Kalama offers truly exceptional safari experiences in an area renowned for the ‘Samburu Special Five’ (Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk and Beisa Oryx). At the camp you will have some time for leisure, lunch and afternoon tea. Then you will set off for your afternoon game drive followed by evening sundowner drinks overlooking the vast spread terrain. Arrive back in camp in time for showers and drinks & dinner. The rooms at Sabaab are enormous Moroccan / Swahili style rooms with open air ensuite bathrooms, private plunge pools and expansive views.
Dinner & overnight at The Ark
Wake up in paradise to the sounds of wildlife on the background. Today you opt for more game drive adventures, whilst in the afternoon - when the heat of the day gets heavy - you may enjoy relaxing by the pool.
Sundowners & dinner in pleasant safari company at Sasaab.
After breakfast, you will head off to your next home in the bush by road, approximately 3hrs drive. Upon arrival at Ol Pajeta gate, your new driver guide will transfer you to Kicheche Laikipia camp in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, journey time is approximately 30 min wildlife permitting. Lunch at camp then relax until afternoon tea is served. Venture out onto the rolling plains on a game drive to enjoy the wilderness on offer. Upon returning to camp, join other guests for a drink around the campfire or in the cozy lounge tent where you will join your hosts for dinner.
An early start to the day with piping hot coffee, tea or hot chocolate brought to your tent. This morning take a longer game drive and enjoy a sumptuous picnic breakfast out on the plains. Return to camp for an al-fresco lunch and relax viewing the game and birdlife around the waterhole. In the afternoon you have the option of visiting the Chimpanzee Sanctuary prior to continuing on your evening game drive until dusk. Kicheche also offers night drives if you would like to view an array of nocturnal species with the aid of a filtered spotlight. Drinks tonight will be around the campfire or in the cosy lounge & dinner will be served in the adjacent dining tent.
There are a range of activities to choose from including Ngare Ndare day forest visit & canopy walk, canoeing, Mountain Biking, Child Activities (tracking skills, bow and arrows, beading, fire-making, spear throwing, camp discovery walks), lion tracking, mountain biking or take a walking excursion with one of our guides and a ranger. Walks range from 2-3 hours and can be adapted to suit your preference.
Following a leisurely breakfast depart for Nanyuki airstrip for your morning flight to Masai Mara. Upon arrival at the airstrip your Kicheche guide will be there to welcome you and drive you to Kicheche Mara Camp, whilst enjoying a short game drive en route. At the camp you will have some time for leisure, lunch and afternoon tea. Then you will set off for your afternoon game drive followed by evening sundowner drinks overlooking the plains. Arrive back in camp in time for showers and drinks around the camp fire.
Kicheche Mara Camp is a classic tented camp hidden in a beautiful valley in a prime wildlife area of the Mara North Conservancy. With only eight tents an intimate and relaxed atmosphere is created. The luxury tents are laid out alongside a seasonal stream from where you can observe the resident birdlife and plains game beyond.
All meals at Serena Sweet Waters
Rise early with tea or coffee brought to your tent then set off as the sun rises for a wilderness awakening game drive. The verdant plains host a fabulous array of plains game such as gazelles, impala, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and eland. Never far away are the predators such as lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena which our guides are finely tuned to finding. Enjoy a picnic breakfast in the most magnificent outdoor setting on the plains before winding your way back to camp. After a leisurely al-fresco lunch back at camp, relax, read, watch the resident bird life or enjoy a siesta in your tent. Afternoon tea is followed by game driving in another area of the conservancy where you may see jackals roaming, warthog bathing or impala jousting. Sun downer drinks are served in a picturesque spot as you watch the sun sink below the horizon. Return to camp to exchange stories around the campfire with the other guests before your mouth watering three course evening meal.
Today is an opportunity for a full day outing to explore the further reaches of the Conservancy or, if during the migration season, the Reserve. Breakfast will be served in camp before setting off with your guide into new terrain. On the menu today you may encounter a cheetah stalk an unsuspecting Thompson gazelle, watch hippo bathe alongside crocodile in the river or watch a territorial wildebeest chase off his rivals. Pull up at a shaded spot and watch as your picnic lunch unfolds before you. In the afternoon continue traversing the magnificent terrain and witness the never ending interactions on the plains. You may finish the day watching the fascinating interactions of one of our lion prides with lionesses lolling about, cubs playing and the males emitting thunderous roars.
Savor your coffee on the private deck of your tent, soaking up the tranquil view. Early mornings offer the best game viewing, so you head out timely on your last game drive. Your guide will share his deep knowledge and love for the wild with you, keeping a sharp eye out for lion, elephant and other rare species. A generous and delectable lunch awaits your return to the camp followed a short relaxation. You will later be transferred Mara North Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Wilson Airport, you will be met by your driver who will transfer you to JKIA for your outbound flight back home or your Nairobi hotel
